We’re back. After two weeks of visiting, shopping and eating, we made it safely back to Belgium. Read about the journey here. We have four very happy cats and a very smelly dog (who will need a bath this weekend). It took 3 days of sleep for me to feel somewhat human again and it will take at least 3 more to get the laundry caught up.
We got to visit pretty much everyone, so that was a success. As for acquiring the things on my list, I did ok. Somehow we managed to make it back with 46 books (I kid you not. Most were from the second hand shop and some were donations from my Mom and Mom-in-law but all will be enjoyed) and about 20 DVDs. So I have no excuse for boredom for the winter months.
I did get a new digital camera, so I can share my snaps once again without having to scan my slides first (sigh, someday I will make the leap to the digital SLR).
The only thing I struck out on was the Ott Light bulb so I guess I’ll have to search on-line for that one.

| Anouk's latest album is Hotel New York. |
Anouk is the tattooed, blond diva from the Netherlands who I discovered several years ago while visiting Amsterdam. She is bigger than Madonna in her home country and has a voice somewhere between Melissa Ethridge and Annie Lennox. Her music ranges from hard rock to mournful ballads to bouncy tunes that get stuck in your head all day. For you unfortunate souls whom I have not yet inflicted her music upon, go to her website right now and listen (well, finish reading my blog… then go to her site).
The arena was packed. Traffic into Antwerp was totally snarled and we had to park 10 minutes away. We made it to our seats just as the opening act was finishing. Anouk sang for 2 and a half hours; one of the longest concerts I had been to. She sang many songs from her latest album, Hotel New York, but many old songs as well. She actually preformed everything I hoped she would, even songs I didn’t expect. When she sang old favorites like Nobody’s Wife, Michel and Everything, the crowd just about brought down the roof. When she ended with Girl and Lost, everyone was on their feet.
I would seriously consider catching her again in Rotterdam in December. I will be cranking her music all week now.

I'm listening to 'Lost' as I type this ... you could have been a little clearer when you were telling me she was superb and amazing. I didn't quite get it. And the concert was only a couple of kilometres away ... I guess this makes me a wee bit of a silly dummy huh.
