Oops I Did It Again...
Over two weeks ago, I slipped on my stairs and landed smack on my butt. I've often joked that the best place for me to land is on my rear, since it's well padded. Well it seems that it wasn't padded enough and I'm sure not laughing now.
For the first few days after the fall, my butt hurt but I assumed it was just bruised and would get better soon. For a while, it did seem to be getting better - Until Monday, anyway. By then, the simple act of standing up after being seated would bring stars to my eyes. I do a lot of sitting in the run of a day... it wasn't pretty.
So I did what I always do when there is something wrong with me - I went on-line and freaked out about the worst possible diagnosis (yes, I have hypochondriac tendencies but it comes to me honestly from all of the odd things I've had wrong with me.) According to my on-line sources I had probably either bruised or broken my tail bone. Either way the diagnosis was the same - pain killers and time. Oh, but see your Dr. if you suspect you have broken it.
So this morning I went to the Dr. and I told her what happened and how it feels. Her recommendation - Pain killers and 6 weeks. It could be broken... we could have an x-ray... but either way there is nothing to be done. It will heal on it's own and if it doesn't heal properly then... well... surgery...
In 6 weeks I'll be living in an apartment with 6 flights of stairs and no elevator...
Meanwhile Andrew can't help the occasional snicker... oh he's been helpful and sympathetic too, but...
Why is it that when you break and arm or a leg people sympathize but when you break your ass they laugh?

I sympatize with you greatly, I know how it hurts. I did hurt myself like this once too, it was great pain, luckily for me it passed in few days.
Tell people you broke your "tail" :) It sounds more special and you can laugh about it with them. For now, ibuprofen will be your best friend...
Oh dear. That must be so painful and annoying. I hope you get well soon! Sympathy aside, how does it feel being the butt of all as(s)inine jokes? :-P
ok ok, yeesh... now I've had butt jokes from 3 continents... don't I feel special :P
